SZA Announces ‘CTRL’ Album, Debuts ‘Drew Barrymore’

Before appearing on Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday night (Jan. 12), SZA released her newest song “Drew Barrymore” and announced her forthcoming album titled CTRL.

SZA’s CTRL album follows her 2014 album, Z. The upcoming project experienced a few setbacks last year when the singer tweeted, “I actually quit” before calling out Top Dawg president Terrence “Punch” Henderson. “@iamstillpunch can release my album if he ever feels like it,” she added.

Punch gave praise of the album during an interview with Billboard last March, “It’s phenomenal. Between her last album and this one, there’s so much clarity in her vocals and her tone. It’s much more deliberate than it was on [Z]. There was a lot of ambient, vibe-y, moody type sounding records [on that album]. With this one, she’s giving you her, with a level of clarity that you haven’t heard from her yet.”

The album also features a unreleased track called “Temporary Lover” and a Travis Scott collaboration reportedly titled “Love Galore.”
